Sam Trautman (Richard Crenna) shows up to ask for his help on a top-secret mission in Afghanistan. A war-weary Rambo declines, butwhen Trautman is captured, Rambo erupts into a one-man firestorm to rescue his former commanding officer and decimate the enemy. TOP CRITICS'S REVIEWS

Fresh: Always at ground zero in the chaos is Rambo -- gloriously, inhumanly impervious to fear and danger -- whose character is inhabited by Stallone with messianic intensity.

-Variety Staff, Variety, January 14, 2008

Rotten: Strays slightly from the formula and therefore loses some of its mindless fun credentials.

-Kim Newman, Empire Magazine, January 14, 2008

Fresh: Saturday Morning Picture Club stuff, only dearer.

-, Time Out, June 24, 2006

Fresh: Mr. Stallone has by now made Rambo parody-proof, since the character is every bit as laughable as he is grandiose; that's part of the fun.

-Janet Maslin, New York Times, May 20, 2003
