From first time director Sanaa Hamri comes this charming romantic comedy about a young African-American woman who, against her own better judgment, falls for a white man. When she takes him home to meet her family and friends, the struggles to just be accepted. Sharp-witted and well written, this comedy has lots of laughs and heart.

Rotten: Something New isn't just silly, it's an embarrassment to people who are genuinely trying to level the racial playing field in America today.
-Kat Brown, Empire Magazine, November 30, 2006Rotten: Generally the story swings wildly from preachy to just plain silly. It is truly a story of missed opportunities.
-Stella Papamichael, BBC, November 28, 2006Fresh: There's zero chemistry between the leads; for all their passionate declarations of love, you never believe they've even spoken to each other before the cameras start turning over.
-Andrew Pulver, Guardian [UK], November 25, 2006Rotten: By and large this is a hollow, laugh-free zone paying lip service to the issue in trite, predictable fashion.
-Anna Smith, Time Out, November 23, 2006
This romantic comedy brings together people in such a way to let you know that no matter what, life is wonderful, fun, and you can have whatever you want as long as you're honest with yourself.
