The inspirational biblical story about Mary and Joseph and the miraculous pregnancy that resulted in the historical birth of Jesus Christ is told here. The film takes us from a year prior to the birth of Jesus till shortly after the Nativity. It fills in the blanks missing from the traditional story by populating it with Mary's family, their village, King Herod and other key players. A glorious rendering of the greatest story ever told.

Rotten: Of course there is nothing inherently wrong with preaching to the converted -- secular Hollywood does it all the time. But I confess I wish the movie had some of the passion of The Passion of the Christ.

-Joshua Rothkopf, Time Out New York, February 03, 2007Fresh: We just haven't had too many films that concentrate on this story.
-Richard Roeper, Ebert & Roeper, December 04, 2006Rotten: Dull and inert.
