Powerful story of two siblings, thirty-something Captain Sam Cahill (Tobey Maguire) and younger brother Tommy (Jake Gyllenhaal), who are polar opposites. A Marine about to embark on his fourth tour of duty, Sam is a steadfast family man, married to his high-school sweetheart, the aptly named Grace (Natalie Portman), with whom he has two young daughters. Charismatic Tommy is a drifter, who's always gotten by on wit and charm. He slides easily into his role as family provocateur on his first night out of prison, at Sam's farewell with their parents (played by the gifted Mare Winningham, in a rare appearance, and Sam Shepherd).
When Sam goes missing overseas, his black-sheep brother cares for Grace and the children at home—with consequences that will shake the entire family.
Oscar® nominee Jim Sheridan (1989, My Left Foot; 2003, In the Name of the Father) directed this riveting family drama.

-Joshua Rothkopf, Time Out, November 17, 2011Fresh: Brothers is that rare type of film; one that feels real and true, never forcing itself to conform to the expectations of what a movie should contain.
-Simon Miraudo, Quickflix, October 21, 2010Fresh: Director Sheridan effectively contrasts the domestic character-driven drama set in suburban America with genuinely harrowing and authentic war sequences.
-Gavin Bond, Sunday Times (Australia), March 25, 2010Fresh: While you would be better off tracking down a copy of the 2004 Danish film, this 2009 American remake still packs a punch where it counts.
-Thomas Caldwell, Cinema Autopsy, March 21, 2010
This movie was funny to me because that is the way me and my ex husband are today.

This was a good movie but it make you think about the men who are in the war and come home and does not realize that they need help.
