Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning, fresh off their Twilight Saga: New Moon smash-glory, star in this music-fueled story of the ground-breaking, all girl, teenage rock band of the 1970s: The Runaways.
The film follows two friends, Joan Jett (Stewart) and Cherie Currie (Fanning), as they rise from rebellious Southern California kids to rock stars of the now legendary group that paved the way for future generations of girl bands. Joan and Cherie fall under the Svengali-like influence of rock impresario Kim Fowley (Michael Shannon, Revolutionary Road) who turns the group into an outrageous success and a family of misfits. With its tough-chick image and raw talent, the band quickly earns a name for itself—and so do its two leads: Joan is the band’s pure rock’ n’ roll heart, while Cherie, with her Bowie-Bardot looks, is the sex kitten.
Written and directed by Floria Sigismondi, the film chronicles Joan and Cherie’s tumultuous relationship on and off stage, as the band starts to break out.

Poor script

The actresses do their best with the script that was provided. The movie glossed over the basics. There is little to no depth in any of the scenes. Being a fan of the real Runaways and Joan Jett, I was disappointed. The movie also just mentions Lita Ford and makes it out like she was a nobody that never did anything after The Runaways. If you don't know who The Runaways are, then you might enjoy it but if you are a fan, don't bother watching.

This was a good movie. It was from the point of view of Joan Jett and Cherie Currie. Lita Ford is barely mentioned and is portrayed badly. The end credits only told what Joan and Cherie went on to do. Personally, Lita was the most talented member of the band. She went on to have an amazing solo career.

if you like joan jett or the runaways...this movie is for you! the only draw back is at the end of credits, it told you what joan jett or cherie currie was doing but mention nothing on lita ford or the rest of the band
