In a happy suburban neighborhood surrounded by white picket fences with flowering rose bushes, sits a black house with a dead lawn. Unbeknownst to the neighbors, hidden beneath this home is a vast secret hideout. Surrounded by a small army of minions, we discover Gru (voiced by The Office star Steve Carell), planning the biggest heist in the history of the world. He is going to steal the moon (Yes, the moon!).
Gru delights in all things wicked. Armed with his arsenal of shrink rays, freeze rays, and battle-ready vehicles for land and air, he vanquishes all who stand in his way. Until the day he encounters the immense will of three little orphaned girls who look at him and see something that no one else has ever seen: a potential Dad.
Gee. It seems the world's greatest villain has just met his greatest challenge: three little girls named Margo, Edith and Agnes.
Just listing a few of the voice talents behind the mayhem brings a smile. Laugh along as Carrel and his screen cohorts including the legendary Julie Andrews, Jason Segel (Forgetting Sarah Marshall), Russell Brand (Get Him to the Greek), Will Arnett (When in Rome), Kristen Wiig (MacGruber), and more deliver big.
A must see and a must own!

Fresh: It is a perfectly agreeable family entertainment, but not exactly original and nowhere near Pixar's great creations.-Peter Bradshaw, Guardian [UK], October 14, 2010
Fresh: When an actor has just hit a career low -- as I think Steve Carell did in the desperate Dinner for Schmucks -- it's a relief to see them bounce back with a performance that clicks, in a hit film that really needs their services.-Tim Robey, Daily Telegraph, October 14, 2010
Fresh: It's no first-rank CGI cartoon, but shows how Pixar's quality over crass is inspiring the mid-list.-Kim Newman, Empire Magazine, October 13, 2010
Fresh: One of the year's most likeable family entertainments.-Tom Huddleston, Time Out, October 13, 2010
