In this gripping thriller, Matthew McConaughey (Ghosts of Girlfriends Past) stars as Michael “Mick” Haller, a slick, charismatic Los Angeles criminal defense attorney who operates out of the back of his Lincoln Continental sedan. Having spent most of his career defending petty, gutter-variety criminals, Mick unexpectedly lands the case of a lifetime: defending a rich Beverly Hills playboy (Ryan Phillippe, The Bang Bang Club) who is accused of attempted murder. However, what initially appears to be a straightforward case with a big money pay-off swiftly develops into a deadly match between two masters of manipulation and a crisis of conscience for Haller.
Directed by Brad Furman from a screenplay by John Romano, based on the novel by Michael Connelly, the brilliant cast also includes Marisa Tomei (Cyrus), Josh Lucas (Daydream Nation), John Leguizamo (Zig Zag), Frances Fisher (Titanic), Bob Gunton (TV's 24), Laurence Mason, with Bryan Cranston (TV's Breaking Bad) and William H. Macy (Fargo).

Fresh: A solid thriller with McConaughey doing what he does best.
-James White, Empire Magazine, April 03, 2011Fresh: Though The Lincoln Lawyer occasionally plays like a cracking TV pilot that has somehow lucked into becoming a movie, McConaughey's emphatic connection to his role allows the production to continually defy most (admittedly low) expectations.
-Leigh Paatsch, Herald Sun (Australia), April 01, 2011Fresh: It's nice to see McConaughey getting relatively serious instead of coasting through yet another witless romcom, with or without Kate Hudson.
-Sandra Hall, Sydney Morning Herald, April 01, 2011Fresh: The film does take some predictable turns - even with its "surprise" twist - but it's a perfectly enjoyable time killer.

This is a taut, well-done suspense/drama/thriller with an excellent plot and several underlying sub-plots that are equally engaging. All of the actors involved are intense and dedicated to their roles. I would highly recommend this movie.

This movie had a outstanding cast and a decent plot, but I think the scenes could have been expanded. Was there too much editing or was it under-written ???

My previous post should have reflected a 5 star rating. I'm correcting!

This was a really great movie. Probably the best that Matthew McConaughey has done since A Time To Kill. Highly recommended!
