Get in. Get out. Get away.
Driver (Ryan Gosling) is a Los Angeles wheelman for hire, stunt driving for movie productions by day and steering getaway vehicles for armed heists by night. Though a loner by nature, Driver can't help falling in love with his beautiful neighbor Irene (Carey Mulligan), a vulnerable young mother dragged into a dangerous underworld by the return of her ex-convict husband Standard (Oscar Isaac).
After a heist intended to pay off Standard's protection money spins unpredictably out of control, Driver finds himself driving defense for the girl he loves, tailgated by a syndicate of deadly serious criminals. But when he realizes that the gangsters are after more than the bag of cash in his trunk—that they're coming straight for Irene and her son—Driver is forced to shift gears and go on offense.
Entertainment and action are on overdrive in this critically acclaimed thriller that demands to be seen. Throw all other plans into reverse and see this movie!

Fresh: Nicholas Winding Refn's 'neon-noir' heist film Drive winds the speedo back 25 years to honour the spirit of 80s action films, but this fable about fast cars and mob violence isn't afraid to show its feminine side.
-Fiona Williams, sbs.com.au, January 31, 2012Fresh: It's a film that has its finger on the pulse of what's current and in style, and one that has solidified its place as the coolest film of the year.
-Stephen Lambrechts, IGN Movies AU, November 15, 2011Fresh: Drive works if you succumb to its broad brush strokes of emotion, the plot propelled by vague ambition and greed, the lush cinematography and the dreamy 80s inspired synthesiser soundtrack.
-Jason Di Rosso, MovieTime, ABC Radio National, October 28, 2011Fresh: One of this year's most original, entertaining and frankly shocking American movies.
-Erin Free, FILMINK (Australia), October 26, 2011

It was Not a mistake buying it. It Wasn't too slow. The whole movie Didn't suck. I don't know why people are complaining that there "was not enough driving." Just because the title of the movie is "Drive" does not mean that's all you will see. Ryan Gosling's character did come off as "calm" but that was part of the persona of the character -- the violence was part of his inner self. As for the violence, its an R rated movie. I suppose if there were none there would be complaints about that too. Drive is not one of those bang, bang, shoot-em-up, your house exploded and your dead movies. Took a higher IQ to enjoy this one complainers, sorry.

I do not know how it has a rating of 93 on TOMATOMETER. This caused me to make a mistake and buy it. I love Cars and Driving but this movie has very little of both. Very graffic and violent slow moving not good not what I expected.

This movie was stellar! I got a tattoo that says "Drive" in hot pink as a tribute to my favorite (and most stunning) film. The simplicity in & lack of dialogue captured everything and anything and sometimes nothing - but that genius style honestly made my emotional connections and reactions to the characters dramatically more intense. Yay for the cast!! What a ride! Especially Gosling - YIKES! *whiz* *pow* *bang* *poof* - I just exploded from Driver’s brilliance!!
My perfect day: When I learn that Ryan Gosling and Nicholas Winding Refn will be doing more work together. Gosling & Refn = perfection. They’ve already tackled a (remarkable/marvelous) head smashing scene so they have to come up with something else hyper-emotional to compliment the next film *good luck to them*. AMAZING!!

I don't get all the negative reviews. I don't know what kind of movies these people are used to but this has future classic written all over it. The ending might be disappointing to those who like their movies tied up in a neat little package but this was a step above typical Hollywood output.
