The Most Powerful Man in the World.
Two-time OscarĀ®-winning director Clint Eastwood (Unforgiven, Million Dollar Baby) explores the public and private life of one of the most powerful, controversial and enigmatic figures of the 20th century.
As the face of law enforcement in America for almost fifty years, J. Edgar Hoover (Leonardo DiCaprio, in a brilliant performance) was feared and admired, reviled and revered. But behind closed doors, he held secrets that would have destroyed his image, his career and his life.
Armie Hammer (The Social Network) turns in an arresting performance as Hoover confidante Clyde Tolson, in a stellar supporting cast that also includes Judi Dench, Naomi Watts, Ken Howard, Jessica Hecht and Jeffrey Donovan.

Rotten: A failure, but an interesting failure when you step back and contemplate the project as a whole. Not really anybody's idea of a good time at the cinema that, though, is it?
-Catherine Bray, Film4, March 22, 2012Rotten: DiCaprio and Hammer work hard, but under Eastwood's half-hearted direction they merely seem like teenagers - wearing their father's suits, and with talcum powder salt-and-peppering their hair - out of their depth on a high school stage.
-Simon Miraudo, Quickflix, January 24, 2012Rotten: Clint Eastwood misses the target, again, with laboured, sombre drama.
-Don Groves, sbs.com.au, January 23, 2012Rotten: DiCaprio's boyish looks don't age well, no matter how talented the make up team. For those familiar with Hoover's appearance, this is accentuated to a serious degree.

At times beautifully shot, this very long movie comes off as artsy and too good for itself. But even Eastwood's poor choices cannot make up for a terrible story that's written as a personal vendetta against the title character. It is a story that can be debated, but it has never been verified by anyone, and so it is merely fiction. The screenplay spends so much time on created events that the viewer is left with the thought that they've been tricked into watching nothing more than polished propaganda.

I always seem to enjoy any move that Leo plays in. I was really interested in seeing the movie J. Edgar and I can say that I enjoyed it. I can say that I have learned alot about Mr. Hoover. All in all a good movie!

Leo is a fabulous actor and did a great job on this movie. However I also, found it on the boring side. Didn't watch the entire film. I may give it another look in the future.

Could have been a little more in depth, but, over all i would have to say this movie is well worth seeing.
