Wesley Deeds is about to discover the person he was meant to be.

A successful, wealthy businessman, Wesley Deeds (Tyler Perry) has always done what’s expected of him, whether it’s assuming the helm of his father’s company, tolerating his brother’s misbehavior at the office or planning to marry his beautiful but restless fiancée, Natalie (Gabrielle Union).

But Wesley is jolted out of his predictable routine when he meets Lindsey (Thandie Newton), a down-on-her-luck single mother who works on the cleaning crew in his office building. When he offers to help her get back on her feet, the chance encounter with someone so far outside his usual circle ignites something in Wesley.

This one good deed may finally spark his courage to exchange the life that’s expected of him for the life he’s always really wanted.

TOP CRITICS'S REVIEWS

Rotten: A ridiculously redemptive finale negates almost all of the preceding dramatic tension and resurrects a cloying Richard Marx chestnut to boot.

-Keith Uhlich, Time Out New York, February 26, 2012

Rotten: Whose life, Wesley asks in the movie's narration, is he living? Judging from all the sterile office and apartment space and his mile-long face, I'd say Bruce Willis's in "The Sixth Sense.''

-Wesley Morris, Boston Globe, February 25, 2012

Rotten: Every Perry movie has its highs and lows. This time, the highs are a little higher, and the lows not quite so low.

-Elizabeth Weitzman, New York Daily News, February 24, 2012

Rotten: Good Deeds honors goodness, which isn't at all a bad thing, and it's not without moments of genuine feeling. But by the film's end, after watching a seemingly infinite number of dour close-ups of sober self-evaluation, I felt bludgeoned.

-David DeWitt, New York Times, February 24, 2012

One of my best faves.

Thandi Newton has never failed to deliver the goods with her work. But for Tyler Perry this was just over the top impressive. Exceptionally well done.

There are so many life lessons that Mr. Perry touched on in this film. I found myself laughing and getting upset with that certain irritating family member. I was glad to see the happy ending for all. Great job once again Mr.Tyler Perry.
